Served for 15 years as a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy. Following this I spent 30 years working in the Oil Industry 20 of them as a consultant engineer in the design, construction and operation of offshore and onshore oil installations, a job which took me to many countries in the world. I have lived in Singapore, Jakarta, The Netherlands, the USA, France and Dubai.

Secretary: Graciela McKenna.
Argentinian born Graciela, trained as a Ballet Dancer, becoming Principal Ballerina of Northern Ballet Theatre. On retiring from active dancing, she trained as a Pilates Teacher with the prestigious Pilates Foundation UK to which she’s still a member. She run a very successful Pilates Studio in Holmfirth where she lived with her musician husband Mike. After 30 years in the UK, she moved to Dénia in 2010 to realise her's and Mike’s dream of living in a warm and sunny country.
She became Secretary of the U3A in March 2012.

I was born in
Birmingham, educated at King Edward's School & did National Service in
Germany
in 4th RHA. I worked in banking for almost 40 years & came to
Spain
at the end of 1999. I live in Benichembla with my wife Liz of 47 years married & we have one daughter Emma who now lives in
York.

I have been married to Carol for 19 years and between us we have five children and eight grandchildren.
We have been living in Jesus Pobre for seven years but maintain a flat in Worthing, Sussex.
I trained as a building surveyor and worked in the building industry before joining a major International Bank. I worked for them in the UK, and also in the Middle East and Africa.
Following that I worked in London for the world’s leading credit card franchise as Property and Facilities Vice President for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
I was an active member of the cookery group where I demonstrated and I set questions and compare the quiz nights. The discussion group is a monthly delight and I participate in Dining, and travel trips.
I have been on the committee for three years and sometimes act as Facilitator at the monthly meetings.

in 2001. Married with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Employed for 18 years in the Law Dept. of US company Halliburton as Assistant Co. Secretary responsible for Europe & Africa Region.
With a commercial background of 43 years experience I took the position in 2009 of Membership Secretary and also as a Committee Member since 2010.

I have lived in Kent Surrey and Essex, which allowed easy train access to
London. I first trained as a Dental Nurse, then moved on to Wages and Personnel and finally Bookkeeping.
My darkest time was when my first husband left me soon after I gave birth to our daughter. As they say you learn by your mistakes, so I was more choosy the secound time arround. Due to the Post office resizing Allan was given early retirement. When we did eventually sell our home, we moved to
Spain
and kept busy doing up a 25 year old property. With the passing of both our Mothers in the same year, we started to make big plans, as we no longer needed to return to
England
so oftern. These plans were cut short when Allan died of lung cancer. I yet again pulled my self up and started again, this time working for Help not only in the shop, but also driving for them. When the oportunity to take a turn as president for the U3A I step forward as I felt I had a lot of experience to bring with me.

Previously U3A Dénia Secretary and Travel Group Coordinator. Previously a committee member for 18months with previous Presidents. Now completing a further 3 years on the committee as well as Editor of U3A Newsletter, Travel Newsletter, Publicity Officer, joint coordinator for the Childrens home – our ‘Good Cause’, Travel Team member, and Groups Liaison person.
Mother of Lee and Joanne, grandmother of Jamie, Adam, Jade, Liam and Jon. Divorced.
Ex air stewardess, Pub Landlady, Foster Mother, Manager of a Little Chef, Hotel owner, Secretary to Director at JCB. My last employment was as a Dispatcher with Staffordshire Police based in the control room at Hanley Police Station.
Retired through ill health and moved to Spain in 2002.
